O Earl Grey tradicional é originalmente um chá preto importado da China, agora produzido em todo o mundo. O chá recebeu o nome do primeiro-ministro britânico, Earl Charles Grey, que foi o primeiro a trazer este chá para Inglaterra após regressar de uma viagem cheia de aventuras pela China.
